I am trying to be recruited as a rower, an Olympic sport, unfortunately.

Re: Recruiting in Division III and the NAIA

As the parent of a DIII volleyball player and the wife of a former DIII baseball player, I echo Mr. Peterson's comment. If your child is an excellent student, he/she should consider the benefits of attending a DIII school. Many are ranked academically far higher than DI institutions. Their graduation rates are much higher. And, let's face it, most student athletes are not going to play pro ball--especially female athletes. For them, better academic and professional training will be essential to their success after college. At small-to-medium DIII schools, students enjoy small classes and instruction by professors--not grad students. This enviornment enables students to discover and develop intellectual skills; to be valued for more than their athletic ability. However, this is not to say that DIII schools don't take their sports seriously. They do. In the Centennial Conference and NESCAC, for example, we've witnessed fierce competitive. What DIII players may lack in height, for instance, they make up for in powerful, nuanced, intelligent play.

Re: Two Things You Must Do to Get Into College

The Fafsa requires parents income & tax information.
The information then becomes EASILY available to anyone that has the student's PIN number.
That number is easily obtained by an "EX'- by anyone that gains access to the PIN number.
DEPT. of EDUCATION: there should be two sections.
